Clintons Is Set to Appear Before House Committee in Epstein Probe
The confirmation came after comments posted by Angel Urena, who previously served as deputy chief of staff to President Clinton, responding to remarks by the committee’s chair.
"They negotiated in good faith. You did not," Urena said in a message shared on a US-based social media platform.
He went on to say, "They told you under oath what they know, but you don’t care. But the former President and former Secretary of State will be there. They look forward to setting a precedent that applies to everyone," signaling the Clintons’ willingness to appear.
No specific dates or schedules for their testimony were immediately announced.
The development follows action taken last month by the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee, which moved forward with contempt of Congress resolutions after the Clintons declined to sit for depositions connected to the Epstein investigation.
On Monday, the committee’s chair said the decision by the Clintons to testify only came after those contempt proceedings advanced. In a statement, he said, "The Clintons’ counsel has said they agree to terms, but those terms lack clarity yet again and they have provided no dates for their depositions."
He added that he intends to clarify the proposed conditions for the testimony and then consult with committee members on the next steps.
Epstein was found dead in a New York City jail cell in 2019 while awaiting trial on sex trafficking charges. He had previously pleaded guilty in Florida and was convicted in 2008 of procuring a minor for prostitution, a case that later drew criticism for resulting in what some described as a “sweetheart deal.”
Individuals who say they were victimized by Epstein have alleged that he ran a wide-reaching sex trafficking operation involving figures from elite financial and political circles.
