Former Prince Andrew Detained on Misconduct Suspicion
Thames Valley Police confirmed in an official statement that officers had detained a man in his sixties from Norfolk on suspicion of misconduct in public office, without initially naming the individual. Multiple outlets subsequently identified the suspect as Mountbatten-Windsor.
Authorities said searches are actively underway at properties in Berkshire and Norfolk, including locations in the vicinity of the Sandringham Estate, where Mountbatten-Windsor is reported to have been residing. The former royal remains in police custody, officers confirmed.
Mountbatten-Windsor was stripped of his royal and military titles last October and vacated Royal Lodge, subsequently relocating to what authorities described as "alternative private accommodation." He has since been referred to exclusively by his non-royal surname.
The arrest intensifies scrutiny over his long-documented ties to the late American financier and convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein — an association that has shadowed Mountbatten-Windsor for years and ultimately contributed to his fall from royal standing.
