Trump claims tariffs made US far stronger, more respected
Trump criticized the media on his social platform Truth Social, writing: “We have taken in, and will soon be receiving, more than 600 Billion Dollars in Tariffs, but the Fake News Media refuses to talk about it because they hate and disrespect our Country, and want to interfere with the upcoming Tariff decision, one of the most important ever, of the United States Supreme Court.”
He emphasized that tariffs have bolstered the US financially and enhanced national security.
Official Treasury Department figures show that from January to November last year, the country collected $236.2 billion in net tariff revenue.
The Supreme Court heard a case on November 5 examining whether Trump exceeded his authority under the International Emergency Economic Powers Act (IEEPA) when imposing some tariffs. The administration has indicated it will seek alternative legal measures to maintain enforcement if the court rules against it, a decision that could affect billions in future tariff revenue.
