“I started thinking about what she might say if the person looking back at her wasn’t her reflection today, but the woman she becomes years from now,” said Goodwin. “What would I want her to know before life, relationships and heartbreak ever had the chance to make her question her worth?”

That idea became “Won’t Love for Less”, a song about holding onto your identity, knowing your value and refusing to become smaller simply to be loved.

One lyric captures the heart of that promise:
“I won’t make myself small to be held.”

While the song was born from a grandfather thinking about his granddaughter, its message is intended to reach anyone who has ever compromised too much of themselves trying to hold onto a relationship.

Finding the right voice was especially important for a song built around such a personal story.
