The aKind app connects adults through local events and facilitates offline friendships based on shared interests.

NEW YORK, NY, UNITED STATES, October 8, 2026 /EINPresswire.com/ -- Making friends as an adult often presents a challenge, especially for those relocating to new cities. Without the natural social environments of school or mutual connections, individuals frequently find it difficult to meet compatible peers. To address this, a new application called aKind has been launched to facilitate face to face connections.

The primary objective of the aKind app is to encourage offline interactions rather than maximizing time spent on a screen. The platform enables users to meet new acquaintances and attend local events together. The application focuses on local activities, such as coffee shop gatherings or community runs, and matches users based on shared values, interests, and lifestyle preferences.

Upon registration, users access an interactive map displaying current and upcoming local events, ranging from gallery openings to casual meetups. Individuals can register for events in advance or drop in spontaneously. Additionally, users can create their own informal gatherings on the map, such as open invitations to work together at a local cafe, fostering organic connections without the need for extensive profiles.

Industry surveys indicate that 87 percent of individuals report hesitation when approaching strangers. aKind aims to lower this barrier. When a user indicates they are open to meeting, others can review their shared interests and send a message before an introduction in person. By focusing on users who are already in the same physical location, the app streamlines the initial introduction process.

Developed in consultation with psychologists and certified coaches, aKind utilizes an algorithm powered by AI to assess compatibility. The system evaluates shared interests, hobbies, and values to facilitate suitable matches. According to internal testing among established friend groups, the compatibility algorithm of aKind yields scores of 90 percent or higher. The AI also curates local event recommendations to encourage offline engagement.

The platform prioritizes physical meetups over prolonged digital interactions. aKind is currently available to the public, and users are invited to test the application and provide feedback as the developers continue to refine the matchmaking process.
